Walgreens has a pretty sweet monthly deal for all you "seasoned" shoppers (aka those of us ages 55 and up) on the first Tuesday of every month. It’s called Walgreens Senior Day, and while it’s not a new senior discount program, you might not be taking full advantage of all that it offers.
Seniors who are 55 and older can save 20% on eligible regular-priced merchandise in-store and online for Walgreens Senior Day. But your savings can last a whole week if you shop online during the first week of the month.
So whether you’re shopping for medications, vitamins, or health products, as long as it’s a full-priced item, you can save 20% with the Walgreens Senior Day promotion.
Here’s exactly how the Walgreens senior discount works and whether or not you can apply Walgreens coupons to your purchase.

Walgreens Senior Day is the first Tuesday of the month in stores — and the first week of the month online.
If you’re shopping in-store, Senior Day happens on the first Tuesday of every month. To take advantage of the discount in-store, you’ll need to have a myWalgreens account and let a Walgreens associate know want to apply your Senior Day discount.
TIP: For in-store purchases on Walgreens Senior Day, you may need to provide your ID to prove your age.
But here’s the kicker — seniors can also shop online all week long (starting the Sunday prior to Senior Day until the Saturday after) and apply the code SENIOR20 at checkout to save 20% on their regular-priced purchases. So that’s seven days of savings online compared to one day in store.
And they do allow you to use Walgreens coupons in combination with the senior discount.
KCL TIP: If you're under 55 with an AARP membership, link it to your Walgreens account. This lets you use the SENIOR20 code for savings, even if you're not yet 55.
When is the next Walgreens Senior Day?
The next in-store Walgreens Senior Day is predicted for Tuesday, May , 2024, at all Walgreens stores.
The next Walgreens Senior Day savings week will happen online from May 5 - 11.

Keep the list of exclusions in mind (it's kind of a lot).
Since you can only use the 20% off Senior Day discount on regular-priced items — and Walgreens has SO many sales happening all the time — unfortunately, the list of eligible items you can use the discount on is kind of slim.
Basically, you’ll need to skip buying anything you see that’s on sale.

This offer also can’t be combined with other promotions like Buy 1 get 1 free, Buy 1 get 1 50% off, or Buy 2 get 1 free. It also doesn’t apply to bulk orders, back-ordered items, and out-of-stock items.

Claim a 20% Walgreens military discount three times a year (in-store only).
In addition to the Walgreens senior discount days, Walgreens also offers a military discount a few times a year.
During the designated periods, veterans, active duty military, and their families can get 20% off a regular-priced purchase with a myWalgreens account.
The only catch is the Walgreens military discount is offered in-store only.
Reminder: The AARP Walgreens discount ended in 2023.
Before Aug. 31, 2023, if you were an AARP member of any age (not just 55 and older), you could get 10% Walgreens Cash rewards on Walgreens-branded health and wellness products, 7% Walgreens Cash rewards on Walgreens beauty and personal care products, and 3% Walgreens Cash rewards on all other qualifying beauty and personal care products with your AARP discount.
Unfortunately, as of Sept. 1, 2023, Walgreens doesn’t offer these great perks for AARP members any longer.
